The sun has got his hat on... hip hip hip - blahhh! The fickle month of April, that typically has us Brits drenched in the wet stuff and cowering under our stereotypical "Made in Britain" waxed, waterproofs. Has been replaced by a serene scene of scented carpets and our usual stagnant city air is now laced with the delicious and distinct scent of sizzling fat on smoldering barbecues. With our pagan G-D blessing our usually drizzly isles with glorious sunshine, we have come one in worshiping the sunshine. Layers have been shed, baring almost all on our tiny high-rise balconies to bathe in our pagan G-D's warm kiss.

Though for I, the little spy, the early coming of summers bliss is bitter sweet. Bitter because I have been stripped of my final month of layering. I revel in tiers of fabrics and contrasting textures and summer prevents just that. Instead we plod along in yawn inducing tee's and knobbly knees, exposed by shorts in various shades of boring.

Impatiently I await for autumn's return. Until then I look to Dana Lee's impeccable FW11 collection, which consists of simplistic layers of rag-knits, hopsack shirting and marino wools in the most delectable colour pallet of deep burgundies, orange rusts, lavenders and olive greens.

Ello.... Apologies are due to the lack of posts of late, my concentration lies not with the frivolous joys I daydream of, but with finding an apartment in my new home to be - London. After many torturous weeks of searching north and south of the river, I and three of my closest buds are soon to call Hendon home. It's no Dalston... Skinny-jeaned hipsters are replaced by the abundance of bagel gaffs (mmm, salt beef kosher goodness). Now that I have a place to call home - I suppose its time to find myself an internship... Yup - I plan on being someone's bitch boy, offering my skinny self for free, for 3 months... eeek!

As you lovelies know, I have been lusting over various man-bags, nothing too fussy, sissy or tactile, something sturdy and masculine to stop my pockets from jangling. I contemplated the "playing it safe" rucksack, though for fear of looking like a lost foreign exchange student, that thought was quickly dampened. So without further a due... Well it's only directed by none other than, THE Tarik Saleh - whom takes the schizophrenic forms of graffiti artist, slash film director, slash animator, slash all round hero of mine - he's so dreamy (in a none perverse/homo-neurotic kinda way) when I grow up, I want to be just like him. Friends, readers and passers-by... I am uniting with the North-South exodus and migrating to pastures new. Exchanging the rain and benign, for a new life, a new chapter, a new beginning in the BIG smoke. I have pondered, deviated, hummed and hawed over such a move for quite some time and I have finally decided to join ranks with those thousands of wanderers, seeking our modern day holy grail - opportunity. So it's time to follow those very opportunities that I desire and crave.

Opportunity aside - "Priority", keeps rearing its sensible head (Urgh - shoo, be gone with your guilty ways!)... Sensible I am not, nor can I conform to an oppressive, killjoy of an adjective. My priorities comes not in the form of purchasing the necessities to play house (I wonder if fisher-price do an 18+ cook set), my priorities are those frivolous bits + bats which I need, ok....want, to make such a move that teeny bit more comfortable. My latest want, comes from Isaac Reina's, architectural leather tidbits. No frufru frills here people! Simplicity is king when it comes to these understated, aesthetically joyous, leather pieces. Lets take a look-see, shall we?... O and wish me luck.

The hoodie... the uniform of choice for a generation of disgruntled youths. A uniform that has the unassuming passersby, quicken their steps and cross the road, with heads bowed and fists clenched - as these menacing, cloaked figures approach. Like a scarlet letter, this unnatural mix of cotton + polyester, tars the hooded unknown with that which is demonic and unchaste. I confess, I am one to stereotype, uneasy I am around such caped, Reaper-esque shadows. I choose to seek cover amongst that which is familiar, or a seat close to the front of the night bus always helps in easing my suspicions (pussy!).

Though, Courtney McWilliams, the fresh face at Givenchy, is one such menswear designer that does not share such reservations. Instead she embraces in all that is thug-chic. Bold Burberry-esque prints, tracky bottoms and of course the hood, all feature heavily in her collection - a homage to the the chavy, tracksuit wearing, Staffordshire bull Terrier owning, hoodie.

Port magazine... The new kid on the shelf. A men's magazine that prides itself on it's IQ... A magazine, less interested in packing its pages with benign advertisements (take note Conde Naste) and where quality overrides quantity. Quality comes in the form of its contributors, from esteemed journalists, such as Jon Snow (I envy not his sheer brilliance with words, but that of his tie collection) and fashion director, David St John-James (whose simplistic, no fuss aesthetics, I have admired since his work with the Dazed group). O and what's more - Daniel Day Lewis as a contributor and on the front cover! POW - The very sound affect made by that chiseled jaw. Lets take a looky look, O and please do excuse my scribbles.

"Single"... The check-box I tick and the solitary ticket I purchase. I seek no pitiful "Awww", in my life of one. No sympathetic string cortet, to serenade my request for a table for one, as I revel in all my single glory... Sharing I need not, in my life of me, myself and I. Though, selfish I am not, nonetheless - Sharing is not caring, when it comes to sweet (never salty) popcorn.

It's not often that we men are gifted with a concept store, distinct from the predictable units we have all grown to know and loath. All too often, our temples of sartorial grace, conform to stockpiling that which we our told to honour and obey, by the clerics of fashion.Yet, there our but a few whom dare to not play along to the same hymns of an orthodox playlist. One of a Kind, is one such concept store, that acts as a haven to the discerning gentleman. A haven of unique goodies, that make you wanna scream hallelujah.

I had a little natter with the folk behind the concept, to gain a greater insight into the store and the creator... Enjoy.

Whats the story behind your concept store, One of a Kind?

After returning to Australia in 2001, from living overseas. I noticed a gap in Sydney - there were no stores like the ones I had been shopping in. So in 2002, I opened my first store, "Our Spot", then in early 2010, I opened One of a Kind. I wanted to open a little neighbourhood menswear store, stocking Australian designers, second hand pieces and accessories. The space became available, the vine was in bloom and it was open 3 days after I came up with the concept.

When buying pieces for the store, what's the single most important factor?

These Days, price has definitely become an important factor, though, aside from that, the story behind the brand is important to me and I buy the pieces that I like.

What can we expect from One of a Kind in future months?

This month we see the exciting arrival of the AW11 collections. Further down the track I'll be working with many labels to feature shop-in-shops. I've also got some interesting window displays planned and another group of art shows in November.

Looking into your well groomed crystal ball... what do you see as the next big trends we folk should be on the look out for?

I think the next trends to come through, are beautiful tailoring, organic fabrics and colours. One label using organic fabrics is Dana Lee - this combined with Dana's impeccable designs makes it definitely a label to watch.

What was the sole thing that gravitated you to wanting to work in fashion?

Skateboarding.

Casting your mind back, what's the earliest piece of clothing you remember wearing as a child?

When I was five, I had a cool pair of Adidas Roma's.

What was the last item you purchased, your most coveted item in your wardrobe and what have you been desperate to get your mitts on?

Last item purchased, J Crew dessert boots... Fave wardrobe item - Rag & Bone Work Jacket and I am desperate to get a Isaac Reina Wallet and Buttero sneakers.

Finally, what's your biggest Fashion NO!?

Ahhh - Peacocking... The pick-up-artists law of attraction, adopted by 30 something - 5ft nothing PUA's. Whose mating calls, comes not in the form of the sweet sounds of good ole fashioned charm and whit, but that of its eccentric, uniform of choice. "Picture me", is fashions desperate plea for attention, a call for attention by those desperately seeking the adulation of the street-style twitcher. Gone are the days when a simple rustle + flutter, of a cleverly placed feather had those Cannon's snap, snap, snapping and so the effortless is now void. Replaced by a hybrid plumage of excessive colour, disproportionate layers and schizophrenic textures. All to keep the voyeurs content

With my feathers looking a tad worn and muted in comparison, I seek a dash of colour from the Danish lovelies at Mismo, whom appreciate the simplistic and shy away from the overdone.

BAH! HUMBUG! Were the defeatist words I croaked in a morning haze. Caffeine and nicotine, simultaneously slurped and inhaled, are my pick-me-ups on a dank Thursday morning. A morning when fashion has come and gone and creative stimulation comes in the form of which of my assorted Tupperware containers, should have the dutiful honour of housing a rather limp looking salad. A sprightly kick of energy, induced by my morning rituals, dampens my pessimism, as our next fashion installment is just a hop, skip and a jump away - Hooray!

A season hijacked by Suiting and the foe I fear the most... The boot - whether military, desert, docs or hiking. I find comfort in a suit free James Long's collection, which featured fuzzy mohair knits, cozy structured outerwear and polka dots - my favourite kind of dot. As for the boots - we will just ignore those (Shoo - be gone with you!).

Ahh... "MAN" day, THE day, a day in which we men can call our very own, during a swollen calender, dripping with billowing chiffon, the silkiest of silks and luminous prints. This day, is a day in which we celebrate the new and emerging talent, typically ignored on fashions four stop tour, where an old world of established traditionalists weave a PR web (of freebies) too potent for the Conde-Naste elite & Co to resist.

Forget freebies, tis the season to be furry... Well, according to Gordon Richardson. Topman Design, the first of the shows at the dedicated MAN day at London Fashion Week, was a collection of fur coats and no nickers... Literally and figuratively. Nickers neatly tucked to one side, Fur and fox stoles draped on fresh faces were all too much of a distraction from the collection at hand. Topman + fur!?!?! Nah... Still confused. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the furriest things in life (maybe a tad less then Bryanboy), though not, fur for fur sake. A collection that prides itself on affordable price points, will see those furry critters breath a sigh of relief, as they are likely to be replaced by faux, synthetic fakery. Fur aside, the collection tantalises the thrifty shopper with 50's suiting, an exciting variation of lapels and collars, box shaped outerwear and a plethora (my new BIG word) of herringbone.

As you, my faithful + insightful devotees of this very wunder-blog (please feel free to agree), may already be aware, that I the spy, have been laden with a fair few genetic flaws... Nothing too serious my friends, although Darwin may beg to differ. The absolute inability to decipher the difference between my grammatical nemesis, the homonyms... their/there, to/too - boo you! An obsessive, unhealthy and somewhat "Crazy cat lady" like need, to substitute a mate with cats - socks in this case are my feline friends... sumptuous stripes, cosy cables, moorish merinos and everything in-between. A hairline that is unforgiving and eats into my ego like acid and last but not in the slightest bit least, my degenerative eyesight. The latter for most folk, is an additional moan to an ever increasing list of groans, I however, rejoice, as for every additional squint and strain calls for a new pair of specs.

With that said, I look to my brand bible of the all seeing kind for a new pair of spectacles. Eeny, meeny, miny, mo, I pick you Lunettes Kollektion. The Berlin based eyewear fanatics, take inspiration from Berlin's golden age, when Dietrich reigned supreme and the charleston and hyperinflation were Germany's sweet and sour imports. Forget that these beauties are individually crafted by artisans from Germany, Italy and Austria, with names like Artsy-Fartsy (LOVE!), Zeitgeist and Doppelganger... I'm sold.

Impatience is a virtue of mine, a virtue that has my toes tapping and my fingers twitching for constant sartorial gratification. Yet sartorial gratification comes all but twice a year.... Tis Torture for a self proclaimed clock watcher like myself! With the winter show season nearing its end, I am yet to feel content, my thirst not quenched nor my hunger satisfied. With Milan (Bring those boys home, Bailey!), Paris and New York all parading suited armies of 6ft1 loyalists, trooping their new vivid colours in perfect unison. My hope for gratification lye's with London - THE fashion week in which originality and innovation is the victor (Me biased?? noooo - don't be silly!).

With that said, my beady eyes have caught the attention of Christophe Lemaire, the newly appointed creative director of Hermes. The minimalist collection lost amongst the noise of the Mugler hype, sought not to conform to the "Word" of the consultants and delivered a collection of volumes and o so beautiful outerwear. I salute you, Monsieur Lemaire.

I don't want for much... My cravings are few and far between. Though, Simplistic, unrefined, sugary pleasures are the very delights I yearn. Deliciously soft nuggets of delight, Bright luminous wrappers, revealing acid pink jewels of bubble blowing gum. Fizzy-citric sherbet - dipped or dabbed. Stabillo coloured sour pearls, capable of inducing extreme facial contortions. Unclaimed disembodied babies of the jelly kind and the Rich, dark aniseed flavour of liquorice, are all but a few of my favourite sweets. All individually laced with the devils additive of choice - the E-number.

With every sugar induced trance, comes a sugar low, in which I crave an alternative that my dentist, Dr Links would approve of. Benah is my would be splenda, my Australian alternative that's low in harmful additives but leaves me feeling just as satisfied.

Like a feral child cautioned, "Not to touch", curiosity seems too much of an urge for my mitts to do the exact opposite. In recent years I turned my bulbous, sephardic nose the other way, when it came to all things Americana... A look of conceited distain as I tried to decipher the obsession for the fedora, vests and super-sized (minus the fries) bow-ties. My vision, blind-sighted by these anomalies, failed to see past the imperfections of the contrived and commericialised nonsense. However, With my blinders and discoloured chinos put to rest, I was able to put my ignorance aside and begin my journey into the world of true Americana. My journey left me wide eyed and wanting to chant "The star-spangled banner", Though I soon was made aware, that the exact lyrics had eluded my monotone tones and stretching to those distinct vocal gymnastic frufruness, perfected by Aguilera & Co seemed like far too much effort.

My conversion lies not with the 80's backwards peak but instead with 1950's Ivy league and American workwear.... Ahhh the deep indigo of a Levi's 501XX and THE penny loafer. The Bass penny loafer to be exact! The very penny loafer of choice for a 1950's Ivy Leaguer.

Brrr! Its cold in here, there must be some..... Ahhh - BIG, no HUGE fail! To save myself from further humiliation, I'll allow you lovelies to fill in the blank. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ashamed of my love... I'll rephrase that - knowledge of stereotypical, white, middle class, teen dramas whose issues conform to the banality of suburbia, It's just that, erm... Well I don't actually have an excuse - so please, do Judge! Anywho - enough about me and my apparent lack of cinematic taste. Tis the season of thermal vests + Long Johns (Is it just me or does the later give the wearer the illusion of rickets?). Without my M&S thermal wonders, I fear the winter months would leave me cowering under duvets, cradling hot water bottles and invading personal spaces for body warmth.

Ahh... The simple days of school - Where currency came in the form of the bits + bats in your pencil case and "Cool" was measured not by the obscure bands you pretended to know and love but by the length of your school tie. Tuna baguettes with lashings of unbranded, E-number rich - salad cream and the sticky goodness of cornflake tart, whose sugar content was pure bliss for a ferrel child. These were just a few of my favourite things. School lunches aside, the acrid smell of wood polish is a scent that re-ignites memories of my days as a pupil, a pupil desperate to please and be a member of the "Teachers pet" society - yet distraction was and still is my downfall. From the dark chocolaty parquet floors to the uneven, wooden desks etched with past pupils messages of unrequited love (hmmm, I wonder if "JS + AB 4 EVA", are living happily ever after - Pfff!), were all laced in that distinctive odour.

My recent trip to the big smoke had me accidentally stumble across Elemental, an antiques/vintage furniture specialist whom specialise in all things bright and industrial. The sweet smell of polish stopped me in my tracks to reveal school furniture of past. Once dismissed, now glorious!

Learning curves... Correction - mistakes! Many I have made in my younger years, all of which had been self inflicted tears to a "Best in show" ribbon, I pinned strategically to a make-believe best dressed ego, that was cultivated and pruned to convince myself that a kaleidoscope of colours and prints, draped over my awkward frame was a-ok... how wrong I was! A uniform of Zebra print - high tops (shiverrrrr), stabilo yellow CK T's and the nothingness of 90's (the era that fashion forgot) diluted - stone wash, straight cut denim. Are just a few of my "Dont's" that would take pride of place on the Vice wall of lame.

For fear of a relapse, I seek distraction from the garish and the laboured (Ehem - Louboutin's of the male kind). Dana Lee provides just that. She's a man's man when it comes to design, where simple trumps the overdone and attention is placed on that silly old thing, known as wearability. Denim ey!... should in theory be the carbohydrate (a moment on the lips...) of my well balanced diet of apparel. Yet I have unintentionally cut this staple from my nutritional get up. With my wardrobe starved of essential starchy fibers, I am a man (a rather gaunt one at that) on a mission to pack on the pounds of denim goodness. Yet this synthetic material has been hard to swallow of late. I, like a depraved waif, have been frantically rummaging through perfectly aligned pillars of denim, desperately seeking nourishment of some form and yet my stomach still rumbles. Picky I am not, tis true I am yet to decide what Im hungry for... skinny, stretch skinny, vintage, loose, high rise, blah blah blah... TOO much choice - could that be the issue???

Acne, Monkey, Cheap Monday - all I have sampled and I have yet to part with my monies. However, my hungry eyes (loves me a bit of the dirty) has come across a relatively new brand, known simply as Them Atelier. Hmmm... I want to believe that their goodies are packed full of nutritional goodness, though I'm slightly put off by the overtly pretentious inclusion of the word "Atelier"(silly, I know!). I find it difficult to take any brand seriously whom go by the name of "House of" (House of Dereon - need I say anymore) or "Couture"... unless a member of the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Paris (whose pretentious now - POW!). Lets take a looky look...

Although Sweet with a liquorice like sheen and delicious to the touch, these tasseled loafers boar a bitter-sweet aftertaste... Sweet comes in the form of its refined leathery goodness, evolving a debt ridden pauper (a degree in economics brought me nothing but a spiraling overdraft) into somewhat of a prince. As for bitter, well - the realisation that my clumsy man size feet had shrunk two sizes to an above average feminine size 7, left my content self burdened with a sudden wave of grief, frantically trying to persuade a somewhat unresponsive sales assistant that "I am a size 9, I swear - It must be the shoe". Does this also mean that gravity has had its wicked way with my 5ft 11 and a half (the half being very crucial) inch frame? Surely not! Can't be, or could it? Are my elf like feet destined to trot in a pair of Tom Cruise-esque lifts? Or will compensation come in the form of a doctor Seuss hat... Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Couch commando was no playful game for the light hearted in the WE SPY household, more of a brute demonstration of my elder siblings clout over their impressionable, waif like brother. Their autocratic barks clearly defined my position within the pecking order, a position in which I remained still and unvoiced as they gorged on the pastel drivel of "My little pony" and her phony chums. motionless I remained, to ensure that the bribes and favours I bitterly adhered to, would buy me 22 minutes (excluding those pesky "Baby all gone" commercials and her mysterious, vanishing cherries - how did they do it?) of true bliss that came in the form of my mutant buds, the X-men. With my Mouth ajar and eyes glazed, I found myself in a trance of sheer content, that is until the ponies began to skip and merrily trip in their fluorescent world of do-gooding. Yet, my fickle and o so indecisive self has been converted to not only those damned ponies but to the confused half shoe - half boot, ankle hogwash... That is the desert boot. The blame?? As a questionable looking child , branded with a monobrow and rainbow steel, jarred to my rutted teeth (11 years of metallic torture) I was an acquired taste, palatable only to my mother who saw perfection in an awkward looking son. I feared attention and sought to recoil my self-conscious frame to a world of one, where me, myself and I could play in my lands of make believe, thus popular (gross... what a nonsense word) I was not. - WOW, who knew I was such a drip. Violins not necessary, as I blossomed.... Swan Like - Nope! More average... like Joe Bloggs. Anywho, Before I bore you with my self-deprecation - the word "Popular" is a word that I meet with much distain matched with a sour looking face. Bitter maybe... With the tip of my index finger, an adjustment is made to the bridge of my spectacles, which leads my simplistic mind on a journey of make believe in which I play a Fleet street Journalist with ink stained fingers and tortoise shell specs to hand indulging in liquid lunches with Paul Callan and chums. All is bliss in my "Anything goes" daydream utopia, that is until the spectacles are laid to rest and reality proves to be far from fantasy. There's no harm in dreaming right? For those who are kind enough to take an interest in my questionable tastes and daydreams, you will remember that I purchased a new pair of spectacles a month or so ago. I was hoping that maybe you – the talented and o so great people at Oliver Peoples could do some investigating and help put the twinkle back in my eyes and track down a pair of Riley’s (the smaller size) in Dark Tortoise Black.

Patriotism - Is a funny old thing. While I may wince at the very sound of "G-D save the Queen" and cringe at the sight of bunting, I do take pride in all things quintessentially British.... A luke warm (I have a delicate pallet) mug of good ole tea, a toasted crumpet partnered with the questionable acid yellow and sheen of a dairylea slice - hydrogenated fats + E-numbers, delicious. Stereotypes aside and without alienating our flag bearing, star and stripe wearing nationalistic cousins from across the pond (what would Fidel and Stalin think). Blighty and its fair craftsmen and women are leaders in fabric innovation, garment technology and the bespoke (forget the fancy thrills of haute couture - think Savile Row). Thus, the question is, why do British talent line up two by two to manufacture their goodies in far away lands? Simples... Monies. In Top Trump terms Cheap labour seems to have a higher numerical value than that of craftsmanship. Yes, I embrace the cheap and cheerful, however, delight comes in the form of quality and not the disposable. My journey to find a true British label in every sense of the word, that turns it's back on the lure of a Chinese promise of least cost in favour of love and care brings me to Chris Gove and Luke Stenzhorn of Percival. The London based duo, frustrated with their choice between the ill-fitting and the average, bore a debut collection that took advantage of the best that Britain has to offer - beeswax cotton from Scotland, Harris tweed from the Outer Hebrides and heavy weight Melton from Yorkshire all manufactured in London. i WE SPY, says with pride - G-D save Percival.

We the all consuming, are bombarded with the relentless shpiel of global warming and its destructive effect on our fair land.... Green house gasses, fossil fuels, Kyoto, glaciers, aerosols - Blah Blah Blah. Yet the folks behind the statistics, models and computer generated simulations fail to agree on whether or not the increase in temperatures (Eh - A degree or two would be much appreciated to us porcelain northerners) are the repercussions for our menacing ways... tut tut tut. With good intentions (no guilt involved... Pfff!) I try and be that bit more of an Eco friendly type of guy and yet I fail miserably, lights are left on to scare away ghostly figures (Yup - Im still afraid of the dark) and should I be vilified for wanting my fruit to be as snug as a bug in infinite amounts of unnecessary packaging (there's nothing more disappointing that a bruised peach - right?). Guilty? without question - how do I sleep at night? Easy, My theory that the brains behind the polls and the stats are tied to the existence of a problem for no other reason than that of monetary means - Ignorant , I agree.

Due to grave peer pressure, I do plan to decrease my carbon footprint by peddling from A to B and there is no finer way to do so than to invest in a paint by number bicycle brought to us by the team at JellyBean bikes. Inspired by their Australian counterpart Marc Newson, the colour crazed team enables its band of merry followers to decide on the colour of the varying parts... There's one condition, colours of the primary kind or not an option, instead choose from very cherry to plum. Delicious.

Ooh la la - The very words that I find myself uttering when my senses are tickled and the very words that make me question my sanity... Since when did I become a pretentious French artisan whose expressive vocabulary stretched as far as meaningless nonsense. Yet I find myself repeating these 3 words like a broken record intent on expressing my daily cheap thrills with four letters o-h-l-a. Ooh la la (I cant help myself) - the very words I muttered when I caught eyes on the PVC litter of Kolor + Porter. Man bags, fedoras and vests (waistcoats) are usually met with a quiver of fear and repulsion. However, these man totes (shiver) don't come with such a bitter aftertaste my taste buds are accustomed to whilst browsing the look-books of the benign. The reasoning behind my acceptance? PVC in sage green & cream with a good measure of cowhide is far from ordinary. Ooh la la - does X mark your spot??

I, WE SPY WITH MY LITTLE i, is easily excitable by the simple things in life - a bag of penny sweets and I might just be persuaded to get into a strangers car - mehh, what's the worst that could happen. Sweets + strangers aside, my recent sluggish (damn you internet provider and your false promises) journey into the world wide web, saw me stumble upon the tastiest of spectacle brands known as GRAZ. It was lust at first sight as I peered at the optical brilliance shaped by the veteran Graz Mulcahy. Having developed and designed for brands such as AM and Ksubi eyewear, this optical messiah grimaces at the very thought of mass consumption. 3 years have passed since my questionable vision laid a glared focus on the pictorial genius of Jonathan Owen Black, to which I found myself captured in a complete rapture of stimulation... No no no - not of the rudies kind but of the creative kind! I promised my mundane self that I would invest what little monies I had in one of those "Hi-tech camera thingy-ma-jigs with a long lens". However, the daydream remained one of countless unfulfilled dreams and I was to graduate as an Economics student whose creativity stretched to the odd diagram representing the relation between inflation and interest rates... Yawn! With time, I began to loath this very lack of urgency I had to express my creative side. All was to change (pfff!) I was a crazed man with pennies in hand, whom got his mitts on what I now know of as a digital SLR - in the naive hope that I too would be able to capture pictorial delights equal to that of Mr Black. How foolish could one be? Worryingly, I fear this photographic apparatus with all its technological pretense and varying settings. My fear? simples - the confirmation that I may, or am simply not as creative as I so desperately wish to be.

Anywho.... To enlighten you as to reasoning behind these photos by Mr Black, would simply slaughter (no pun intended) the very reason why these pictorials are thought provoking. Embrace your imagination.

Question: Is there an indulgence more scrumptious and enticing then a cube of sticky, nutty fillo goodness that is baklava, paired with the, rich and permeating scent of a fresh, loose leaf, mint tea? The sweet fiend thinks not but I defy anyone to prove otherwise. Sweet tooth, pfff - Sweet teeth, YES! My taste buds demand the insipid, packed full of menacing sugars and sweeteners. I, like a ferrel child have become dependent on sugary induced highs and fear the very lows a withdrawal may induce. With sobriety not an option but a must (so says the dentist), I look for ways to overcome this o so sweet vice of mine. Umit Benan may have the answer, in the form of his Kombolói (worry beads). This primitive pass time is proving to be far more captivating then the sodomy seen in the form of Alber and Christopher's accessories (Once again, small things amuse small minds). Beads aside, the Turkish born designer brings substance in the form of his exquisite tailoring and opulent fabrics in a benign choice of colour, all draped on a bunch of average Joe's.... Hooray - Average is soon to be the new black, which means that I, in all my average glory can appear from the dark shadows of beauty and perfection. Yet the imperfect still feels the urge to criticise, Just the one I promise... Its just those Carrot pants on steroids - I cant say I understand the reasoning behind them nor its beauty. The curtains have been drawn on a somewhat underwhelming Milan soiree and my telescope (a must have apparatus for the inclined stalker) has been positioned to read 48°50'N, 02°20'E (Paris in Layman terms - Pffff!). Paris like a good old chap stays true to its word, offering us common folk endless goodies to gawp at. The second day of festivities saw a changed man in Alexis Mabille gone are the very thing I fear the most - The Bow Tie. Well not quite! Its ghostly silhouette makes an appearance 5 too many times (scaaaary!!). The collection albeit effeminate, what with the lengthy sinuous locks (Bitter - as mine recedes to reveal yet another complex) and an overgrowth of daisy chains - the looks did delight in terms of the apparel, anoraks and the choice of textiles not so true in terms of the Lamé y-fronts.. But hey ho thats just my opinion. What do you think, yay or ney?

Before I bite into Christopher Bailey's latest ensemble, I feel obliged to bore (Sit tight it will only take a few minutes) with a rant of disappointment (A tad of an exaggeration - but you fellow fashion enthusiasts get me, right?) with regards to the collections that have graced Milan thus far. With thanks to Mr Wrigley, I lingered impatiently with bated minty fresh breath awaiting the pictorial delights to digitally emerge as I ferociously harassed the refresh button whilst deceiving colleagues into an illusion of false productivity (Who says men cant multitask - rubbish!). As each collection began to digitally appear, I was left underwhelmed and demanding an immediate reimbursement for the lost hours spent awaiting their sweet arrival. By no means were the collections bare of any substance BUT (there's always a but) they seemed to be vacant of a drive to move menswear forward. However, their were exceptions, Jil Sander and its skittles of colour and Prada's pick and mix of collars. Enough - Rant done!

Lets get back to the post in hand.... The Burberry boy has been transformed from the regimented, trench wearing brigadier to an anarchist clan, clad in string vest bourgeoisie's, intent on chaos not calm. Gone with the trench (well, Almost) and in its place, leather studded biker jackets and a few more studs thrown in for good measure. Christopher, I like, a lot,! Its refreshing to view a Burberry collection that binned the stiff upper lip and ventured into the dark side - Even if only for 6 months.

The untimely death of the colossal talent that is Lee McQueen (G-D rest his sole) left us cohorts morning the death of a visionary whom granted the people with the purest gift, the gift of imagination. McQueen empowered his voyeurs not just through his revolutionary collections but through his ability to enable us, the masses, to dream of wonders beyond the mundane and our own visual means. With grief comes Acceptance, that Lee is no longer. However, McQueen lives on in the form of his trusted colleague and confidant - Sarah Burton. A graduate of the fashion factory that is Central St Martins, Burton joined the label in 96 and was fast tracked to become McQueen's creative and artistic aide as head of womenswear in 2000. With great power comes great responsibility... Responsibility to ensure that the label stays true to its ethos and McQueen himself. Burton's first outing as creative director comes in the form of a subdued menswear collection that shuns the bag of props and magical imagery were so used to expecting. In its place came a collection that referenced McQueen's body of work from his time as an apprentice on Savile Row to his signature prints and opulent fabrics. Lee and Isabella Blow would be proud.

I, like many of you beauties, squander hours of my play time obsessively stalking digital look-book's, editorial pictorials and other fancy shmancy bits and bats. Inspired - indeed I am, many a daydream of endless delicious goodies are spawn from this true unrequited love of mine. However, I find myself gradually developing a distain (bitterness might be the word I'm looking for) for the unblemished mannequins whom are draped in the very goodies that keep me awake at night. Am I alone in my archaic opinion that a piece of cloth is no more or less desirable on the shoulders of perfection... Lust is born from the textile itself and its craftsmanship not the mundane and benign pre-pubescent frolicking model. Times are changing and our obsession with street style photography proves the very point that we take more interest in what Average joe and Jane are wearing than 6ft jack and Jill. I, we spy with my little i embrace my imperfections (not so true when it comes to my monobrow) and I revel in all my average traits. One such designer whom agrees is Dana lee, She says NO to the predictable and says YES to the flawed. Her spring summer look book not only features a simple yet inspired collection but a cast of misfits whom don't fit the ideals of Wintour and chums. I applaud Dana Lee for championing the masses.... All in favour say aye!

The sun has got its hat on, hip-hip-hip-hip hooray... Hmmm, I've pondered for many a minute as to the choice of bonnet are source of light and energy would be modeling on a glorious day like today, a philip Traecy perhaps? WOW - I've got too much time on my hands! Best make the most of it, the umbrellas are at the ready. A dirty habit for dirty people... Yes, smoking KILLS! Yet, I plug my unsuspecting, helpless lungs with its countless destructive chemicals, fully aware of its deathly dangers and yet I turn a blind eye and spark another of those chocolaty, deathly but o so good venomous nicotine sticks. Is it just me, or do you beauties cower away from vintage footwear? Don't get me wrong, I relish in that distinct musty, stale and ripe scent of an aged piece of cloth, made at a time where China's front door was firmly locked and Bangladeshi's brood were without needle and thread. The very thought of wearing a pair of shoes whom have almost certainly been soiled by grim tootsies gives me the shivers. Truth be told - I would make the exception if the shoes in question were of a certain Mr. Hare's pedigree, indeed I am a hypocrite! Anywho, I have been longing for a pair of those simplistic but yet iconic All Star Converse high tops in white. However, the idea of wearing pristine virginal white shoes have always made me turn the other cheek, as I of We Spy has an eye for FILTH! Call me a pessimist, (the principles of "The Secret" are a tad too sickeningly positive for my cynical, doom and gloom ways) but I had come to the bitter conclusion that I was to never adopt a used but not abused second hand goody, of designer lineage and at an all important bargain price. No! Cheap will not suffice, Im talking blow your own horn cheap followed by little jig that even a dyspraxic child would envy. Indeed, the G-D's have praised my patience (of what little I have... and whoever said patience is a virtue is a tease). Amongst all the shameful and naaaasty bric-a-brac displayed within an Oxfam store, a beauty glistened in all its chestnut leathery glory and at £4 - $5.64 (I tell no lie), this Yves Saint Laurent wallet is mine, all mine! Ok... Its a tad feminine but I couldn't resist its goodness... Please do share, any charity shop goodies you beauties have claimed.

Sir Philip... You bring shame upon your high street households with your sinful and impure ways. With my balaclava and magnifying apparatus to hand, the victim of much of my predatory stalking proves a tad sordid and an indulger of all things unchaste. Ok... I exaggerate, more AAA than XXX. My distasteful daydreams of bondage, chains and mechanical apparatus (oooouch!) are nowhere to be seen in the new permanent line offered to us by Sir Philip and team. In its place the teams key stimulant (nope, no mcat to be found in this gaff... Drugs are bad mkay) comes in the form of music culture - Rock and Roll to be exact so says the design director, Gordon Richardson. My thoughts.... Im partial to a solid colour of the dark kind, However, me thinks its almost a shade darker than dark for my liking, i.e. an abundance of black and very little else for my mitts to claw on to. Fear not, all is not lost, as there are interesting details to pray on... For those whom relish to drape their frames in BLACK and the odd zip, studs, leather and a sprinkling of glitter, then the collection should prove A ok. Lets take a looky look...

Art as we know is subjective, what hypnotizes and captivates my uneducated and dare I say it ignorant mind, fails to enthrall the next Jo Blogs. I, like the masses appreciate all mediums of art and yet I have developed a distain for art of the collectable kind. Question: is the price tag of a Warhol just? I agree that his work was integral to the pop art movement that not only changed the way in which art was produced but the way in which art itself trickled down to us, the public. Whether in terms of graphic design, packaging, film etc. However, is a screen print emblazoned with a celebrities mug made not by the artist himself but by his army of "Yes Sir, No Sir" assistants worthy of more 0's than a Picaso? My point being, an artists popularity and more importantly its price tag seems not to be determined by the artists and the art itself but by those who wish to inflate its value for personal reasons. Exhibit A - The Mugrabi family hoard all things Warhol, koons and Hirst whether or not the pieces themselves are viewed as an artists junk. The reasoning behind the Mugrabi OCD is to ensure that the artists work sustains its monetary value and in turn maintains its rarity thus the price tag and the popularity of the Mugrabi's pop art goodies are yet to fall in value even in the midsts of a global economic crisis. Thus, I turn my eyes to art for the people by the people... the very art that doesn't charge by the hour but is free for all us simple folk to enjoy. Street art is in abundance in the magical wonderland that is Berlin, permitting all to stop, stare and discuss. Lets do just that...

All fur and no Ermine...

Being a self confessed geek I adhere to the following, specs - cheek, total inabitly to colour coordinate - check, dyspraxic - check and the occasional dribble - check (embarrassing YES but honesty is the best policy!). Anywho, I find myself being absorbed by all things Victorian, nope not of the cake kind but that moment in time when capital punishment was the new black and kiddies were using their nimble fingers to drive Britain into prosperity. With the common wealth expanding to all four corners of the Earth, Victorian England loved nothing more than playing dress up with textiles from the mysterious lands of afar. One such textile that excited the stiff upper lip was of the furry kind, not just any old fur but that of the Ermine (the distinctive white fur with its black polka dots). The reason for me boring you with the above nonsense is for the first time I witness albeit digitally a collection whom successfully incorporate fur of all kinds without its models being left emasculated and draped with estrogen around its torso and yet their is no sign of Ermine. With slight disappointment I introduce Baartmans and Siegel a design duo whose menswear collection consist of striking fabrics and intriguing cuts.

A new eye to spy

The fashion factory that is Central Saint Martins churns out the very best in full fat delicious talent (none of that semi-skimmed drivel). One such talent, high in sartorial calories minus the E-numbers and the hydrogenated fats is Felipe Rojas Llanos. Upon graduation, the Swede found himself breaking bread (Gravlax in this case) with Alber Elbaz as he underwent the prestigious internship at the Lanvin Menswear studio, Paris. If like me, you are sick to your stomach with envy (or it could just be the layer of grease lining my stomach after I devoured a whole jumbo fish and chips with mushy peas... so so good!) refrain from reading on. The talented so and so's graduate collection graced the marble arches of the V & A for a live installation and finally, if that wasn't enough... Mr Armani reached into his never ending pockets and granted the graduate a bursary to commend his genius. Exuse me... I think its time I go and wallow in all my ordinary attributes, while you browse Felipe's collection entitled "Little prince goes to the opera".

Colour me a shade of individuality

Magazines.... and what? in recent years I have stood awkward and proud and said No! To the purchase of frivolous publications, especially of the conde Naste (Sorry Wintour, I don't get it) kind. Yes, I admit that the photographic pictorials are of slight interest and inspiration but what more... 173 of the 200 (slight exaggeration) are dedicated to the irrelevant and predictable advertisements (shoo Clooney with your Nespresso machine, Im a tea man!). However, In recent months I have decided to bin my pessimism and trail through the bad and the ugly in the hope that I find a few gems along the way. My gems include COLORS (colours for us Brits and those choosing to follow the true form of the English language). Advertisements are few and far between and the juicy bits I hear you ask... for one, creativity is not confined to the office but to us, joe public. Images, sketches and daydreams... ready set upload to their democratic creative world and become part of the revolution. The excitement doesn't end their my friends... Reading is not completing. Note the holographic symbols below, point towards your webcam and enjoy extra digital tidbits (clever.. or simply - small things amuse small minds).

No, not the yellows, reds, purples and oranges (as for the greens, well lets not be all politically correct - they are there just to make up the numbers, right?) of the moorish deliciousness that are Skittles but the socks that adorn my feet. I fear and avoid intense gaudy colours like the plague and so my wardrobe looks far less like Liberace (thats a good thing) and more like the uniform of a civil servant in an oppressive communist state. You lovely folk are probably aware of my weird and wonderful fetishes by now... Feet-meh, Architecture-YES! As a 13 year old acne ridden boy with questionable taste, my Virgin eyes were to meet the saviour (in my humble slightly biased opinion) of 19th century architecture. His masterpieces like no other were adorned with oblique like columns and undulating interiors affording him a cult of admirers including a little chap whom associated architecture with bleak concrete slabs not mosaic exteriors and filigrees of iron. My Deity - Gaudi, His work = hours of gratification! As you intellectually blessed lovelies have probably gathered, this post isn't a homage to Gaudi nor to Barcelona but to Berlin and its baroque/bauhaus beauties (Fear not, my Berlin posts shall come to an end shortly, I am however, in ore of its.... everything! HA).

Up north, in a city whose technological innovations range from the spinning jenny and the intricate ship canal, creating the catalyst for the industrialisation of Britain (Boring!). This in turn shaped our beloved city's landscape with engineering jewels such as the cotton mills and grand Victorian warehouses. Even with such beauty, albeit grey (beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Pfff.) and historical importance (minus the slave trade) us northern scum are deprived of many a sartorial delight that our Southern counterparts take pleasure in. My point – I know, I tend to waffle! H&M’s - COS and its goodies are not available to us common folk, yes the internet is an option but I wish to savor and shower myself in all its glory. Therefore, I gave it the attention is so deserves during my recent trip to Berlin. Disappointed, No! Its aesthetically pleasing layout and its original Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chair (willing me to rest my achy feet) tricked my simple brain into thinking I was gracing the isles of a boutique rather than a high street clone. Regrettably, I only purchased one item but I am on the prowl for more…
